# Permit categories

Civillo permit categories are the individual building blocks that make up the details of a permit. When assigned to a permit template, the permit requestor will be prompted to fill out a range of details based on these pre-defined category prompts. Then, before the permit is ready for signoff, all categories must be signed off by their respective signoff users. Categories are reusable and can be assigned to as many permit templates as you like.

WARNING

Please note that updating an existing category will not update existing permit data. A permit will only inherit the values from a category when it is first requested.

The following options are available for permit templates:

# Name

The name of the category.

This text will appear at the start of the category when it is presented to users, and on the permit document.

# Form builder

This is the list of prompts that the permit requestor will be prompted to respond to when requesting a new permit. A permit cannot be requested until all category prompts have been filled in. After creation, responsible category sign off users will be able to view these responses and approve them or request changes to the permit.

This text will appear at the near the bottom of the category when it is presented to users, and on the permit document.

# Respondents (Optional)

Define users to be available to be selected to respond to the category prompts. Both groups and specific users may be added to the pool of potential respondents.

When creating a permit, you will be prompted to select one user from this pool who will be responsible for responding. If no potential respondents are specified then the permit requestor will be the default respondent.

# Signature requirements

A combination of groups and users who can be selected to be permit category signoff users. You may select any number of users and groups, however user overlaps are not allowed. For each selected group you can select the minimum number of group members required. You can also select a minimum number of individualy selected users required.

# Signature declaration

This block of text will be presented to the permit category signoff user before they sign the category, and appear as a declaration on the permit document.

# Colors

Specify the color of the header background and font. The sub-header background will be automatically set to a lighter variant of the header background color.

# Layers (Optional)

A list of layers associated with this category. All layers assigned to a permit will appear in any map views associated with a permit. Layers assigned to a permit in this way cannot be removed.

You can enable alerts on individual permit/layer associations from here. If the data of a layer is updated during the lifecycle of a derived permit relevant users will be alerted to the change and prompted to review the layer changes before continuing.

TIP

Note that an administrator must designate a layer as being allowed in permits, otherwise it won't be available for selection.
