# How to amend a permit
As a permit controller you have to ability to update some of the data in a permit that you might not normally be able to. The fields you can update are:
- Decsription
- Layers
- Start time
- Legend layers only
Amending a permit can be done when the permit is Pending category signoff and Pending signoff stages.
Amending a permit will create an activity log event.
TIP
This action is only available to permit controllers.
- Find the permit you want to amend
Follow the instructions on how to view a permit.
- Update the permit details
On the permit summary panel you can update whatever details you want to change.
- Amend the permit
- Click the
icon to amend the permit.
