# What is a markup?

A markup is a collection of features on the map. Each feature has a point location (or, in the case of geometries, are constructed from several points) and may have a description attached. Markups may be exported to CSV, DXF or GeoJSON format.

The following features are available in Civillo:

  • Point markers
  • Geometries (lines and polygons)
  • Circles
  • Text markers
  • Symbols

An example use case of markups would be to label buildings and their associated parking spots. For each building, one could create a markup which includes its footprint as a polygon and each parking spot labelled with a point marker.
