# Using Nearmap imagery in Civillo

Up to date aerial imagery can assist all Civillo projects, and Nearmap is a popular imagery provider for government agencies and construction companies. Here is a guide to importing Nearmap imagery in to a Civillo project

# Exporting from Nearmap

  1. From the Nearmap login, click on the Go to MapBrowser Icon button in the top-right.

  2. Click on the Camera icon on the left sidebar, this will bring up the Save PhotoMaps options.

    a. Click on the "Define area" button.

    b. Check the include georeference file - this file gives the downloaded JPG file coordinates so it will display in the correct position.

    c. Note the Projection the image is downloaded as, this will be used when uploading the zip file in Civillo.

    d. When defining the area to download, establish the highest accuracy, by redefining the polygon's dimensions.

    e. Find the largest defined area at the highest resolution (meters/pixel) that is available. When ready, start downloading the area of interest in a grid-like fashion.

    TIP

Be mindful to keep an envelope of overlap between downloads, otherwise you will have gaps in your aerial imagery.

Zip files generated by Nearmap will download, with two files in them - a JPG file and a JGW file (a world file (opens new window)).

# Importing to Civillo

Loading Nearmap ZIP files into Civillo is the same as loading any layer. From the Administration pages, click:

  1. Layers (left sidebar) ➡️ Create / Revise ➡️ Create a new layer ➡️ provide a name.
  2. Select the same Source SRS (i.e. projection) as the Nearmap imagery was exported as.
  3. Select all of the available zip files that have been downloaded
  4. Click submit.

This will start the imagery upload process.
