# FAQ & troubleshooting

Answers to common questions. If you can't find what you need here, use the search bar at the top of the page or contact your Civillo administrator.

# Layers and data

# I uploaded a layer but can't see it on the map

Some files take time to process. Check the Processor job log (at the bottom of the left sidebar) for the current status of your upload. The layer becomes available in the map view once processing completes. See Loading data into Civillo.

# My layer uploaded but appears in the wrong location

The projection of the source data must be specified correctly when uploading. If the data lands in the wrong place, check the Source SRS you selected during upload. See Spatial reference systems for details.

# My upload didn't start

There is a limit of 10 concurrent upload jobs per project. Check the Processor job log for jobs already in progress, and try again once they finish.

# What file types can I upload?

See What file types can I upload to Civillo? for the full list of supported formats.

# Permissions and visibility

# A user can't see a layer I created

Layers are only visible to users who have been granted permission, unless the layer is marked Global. See Setting user permissions on layers.

# Who can see a layer that is allowed in permits?

When a layer is marked Allowed in permits, its spatial representation can be viewed by any Civillo user with access to the permit module, as well as anyone with the URL to the publicly accessible permit document. Only allow layers in permits if you are comfortable displaying them publicly.

# API

# I lost my API secret. Can it be recovered?

No. Your secret is only shown once, at the time of creation, and the Civillo team cannot recover it. You'll need to delete the old key/secret pair and generate a new one. See Obtaining Credentials.

# I'm getting a 429 Too Many Requests response

You've exceeded a rate limit. Wait for the relevant time window to elapse before making further requests. See Rate limiting for the current limits.

# My request returns 401 Unauthorized

Your credentials are missing or incorrectly formatted. The Authorization header must be the string Bearer followed by the base64 representation of your key:secret pair. See Making your first API call.

# Account and devices

# What devices and browsers are supported?

Civillo runs in all modern web browsers on desktops, laptops, tablets and mobiles. See Supported devices.

# How do I set up multi-factor authentication?

See the MFA setup guide.
